ESTROGEN

Estrogens are hormones produced by the ovaries that decline as the body approaches menopause.

PROGESTERONE

This hormone is secreted by the ovaries and is of paramount importance to women. It is used in nature to balance the effects of estrogen and as part of the reproductive cycle. Deficiency may result in symptoms such as PMS, bloating, headaches, cramping, mood swings, breast tenderness, and irritability. Insufficient progesterone also can be the cause for frequent miscarriages. Progesterone should always be in physiologic equilibrium with estrogen. At menopause, women lose both estrogen and progesterone and both may be replaced. Progesterone replacement is important, even if you have had a hysterectomy because it does much more than just protect the uterus.

THYROID

The thyroid gland is considered "Metabolism Central". This butterfly-shaped gland effects energy regulation in every cell, organ and tissue in the body. It regulates temperature, metabolism, and cerebral function. It also increases carbohydrate, lipids, and proteins breakdown that may influence weight loss. Thyroid medication supplements can correct deficiencies of Thyroid hormone and return you to optimal levels.

PREGNENOLONE

Pregnenolone is a hormone that keeps our brains working at peak capacity. Pregnenolone should be prescribed in a sustained release micronized form to assure adequate absorptions and more importantly assure a pure grade supplementation devoid of any contaminants.

DHEA

Dehydroepiandrosterone, or DHEA, is a hormone produced by the adrenal glands. The most tremendous effects often seen from DHEA are based on its ability to stimulate protein systhesis from the cell, which in turn may result in an increase in cell regeneration. This regeneration may forestall the disease process. DHEA should be prescribed in a slow release, micronized form, which allows for complete absorption as well as a slow release and metabolism.

TESTOSTERONE FOR MEN

This hormone is primarily considered the male hormone. As this declines with age, there are health and appearance problems that accompany this loss. Testosterone is micronized and may be prescribed in topical or oral formulation.

TESTOSTERONE FOR WOMEN

Healthy women naturally produce small amounts in the ovaries. It helps control a womens's libido and also may enhance the functions of estrogen.

MELATONIN

This major hormone is produced in the Pineal Gland and helps to set your "biological" clock for wake/sleep cycles. Melatonin helps regulate the rhythm of sleep as well as the deep stages. This causes you to sleep more soundly and improve the function of your immune system. Melatonin should be prescribed in a sustained release, micronized form, which allows for complete absorption as well as a sustained level for the night.

HUMAN GROWTH HORMONE

Growth hormone, also known as the healing hormone is secreted by the pituitary gland in the brain and manufactured by the same process as insulin. It is known to stimulate cell growth and rejuvenation.

MINOXIDIL/FINASTERIDE

Minoxidil/Finasteride is a solution for hair loss. The minoxidil dilates small blood vessels. When applied to the affected area of the scalp it may stimulate hair regrowth. Finasteride is a specific type II 5-alpha reductase inhibitor. That is, it inhibits the enzyme responsible for regulating conversion of testosterone to dihydrotestosterone (DHT). By reducing DHT levels in the scalp, the drug may decrease DHT's effects on the hair follicles, potentially reversing the process of hair loss. This prescription item may also contain CoQ-10 to further reduce DHT at the hair follicle. Common formulations include:

Minoxidil 2.5% and Finasteride 0.05% solution for hair loss

Minoxidil 5% and Finasteride 0.05% solution for hair loss.

ADRENAL CORTEX EXTRACT 250mg

Adrenal cortex extracts help repair and restore normal adrenal function. People suffering from chronic illnesses, including FMS and CFS, may be suffering from adrenal exhaustion. With years of chronic pain, poor sleep habits, excess simulation, unrelenting fatigue, poor eating habits and multiple prescription medications they have literally burned out their stress monitoring glands; the glands and the hormones they release have been used up.

These extracts may be used to replenish and help normalize adrenal function. Unlike cortisol hormone replacement, adrenal extracts can be discontinued when adrenal function normalizes.
